Donation List & Policy

CWS Harrisonburg logo

Thank you for thinking of CWS Harrisonburg and our clients. Many refugees arrive to the United States with little or no belongings, and your generous donation of household items helps to offset some of the home costs for a new refugee neighbor. This is a great way to help a new refugee neighbor who is making a home and rebuilding their life in the Shenandoah Valley.

We are currently accepting donations of hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and diapers at our office (250 E Elizabeth St, Suite 102) and all items on the following list during collection days at our donation hub. Because we do not have storage capacity at our office, we are routing all furniture and household item donations to our partners at Village to Village, who are heading up Welcome Teams to furnish apartments for new arrivals. Village to Village holds a collection day on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2136 Rawley Pike, Rockingham from 3PM-6PM. Please email Heidi Dove at hdove67@gmail.com with any questions, or with pictures of any furniture you will be dropping off.

We are partnered with Hope Distributed, a local clothing closet, that accepts all used clothing donations for CWS. Clothing items must be gently used, without stains or rips. Clothing cannot display beer, tobacco, drugs, or explicit imagery. Clothing can be dropped off at Hope Distributed’s warehouse, located at 1869 Boyers Road, Rockingham. For additional information, please visit their website www.hopedistributed.org.

We also accept Target, Walmart, and Uber gift cards to share with refugee neighbors in need to help offset costs as they rebuild their lives here in the Shenandoah Valley.
