Ukrainian Women’s Seminar

Ukrainian Women's Seminar

May 26 2023

Last Saturday, May 20th, CWS case managers, Beth Good of the EMU nursing department, and a few of our female Ukrainian clients joined us for our 2nd Women’s Health Seminar.

The seminars are completely run and attended by women. Saturday’s seminar topic was trauma, mental health, and resilience, led by Beth Good. The seminar focused on techniques and strategies to manage traumatic stress and to know the signs of this kind of stress in children, and what to do to help them.

The health and wellness of CWS clients is one of our top priorities. We strive to assist our clients in cultivating a sense of community and in providing a safe space for them to share their experiences.

Our Health Liaison, Madison Reese, spoke about the seminars, saying “it was really important that we created a safe space where they could share experiences and understand that they're not the only ones going through them.” Through these seminars, clients are able to build trust between CWS and the community, as well access resources such as mental health providers. “Community resources and education. Those are our goals, and if we hit any of them with anybody, that's a success,” Madison said.
